CS2 cases: how did the first skins come about?

Counter Strike series of games has always been very popular among players and with each new part this popularity grew. In those update the developers brought quite a lot of new things, including weapon skins. You may recall that CS skins appeared in version 1.6, when you could just download models and throw them into the game files. Now each colouring costs money, and they are all knocked out of the cases.

First cases in Counter Strike

To date, CS2 has already added quite a lot of different cases, which were filled with absolutely different contents. From simple guns like AK-47 or M4A4 to exclusive knives and gloves. It all started in August 2013, when the Weapon Case and eSports 2013 Case were added to CS:GO. This decision was made to experiment with monetising the game and keeping players interested.

Soon the case system turned into a huge virtual market, estimated to be worth billions of dollars today. In total, CS2 today has 38 weapon containers, from which you can get certain skins. Some of them were added in the next update, and some were even part of huge operations like Bravo, Hydra, Wildfire and others.

How to get CS cases?

After the release of CS2 a lot of things have changed in the game, including the case drop system. Earlier you could get up to 3 cases per week, but now Valve decided to give you only one chest and weapon. The opportunity to get this bonus is updated every Wednesday.

By the way, there can fall both cheap cases and skins, and quite valuable variants, like Kilowatt case, which appeared in the game not so long ago and still costs some money. Or rare variants, such as the Bravo case or the classic Weapon case.

Is it worth opening CS2 cases?

With such an abundance of different weapon cases, you could surely have the desire to open a couple and get the cherished knife, but we do not advise you to hurry. Before opening cases in CS2, you should know a few useful lifehacks that will make your opening even more successful:

1. Set a budget and stick to it. Simply determine how much you are willing to spend on opening cases and don't exceed that amount. Playing with real money that you can afford to lose will help you avoid financial problems.
   
2. Research the market for items before opening cases. Look at the prices of items that can drop from them. Understanding which CS2 skins are valued higher will help you make more informed decisions.
   
3. Remember that the chances of rare items falling out of cases are very slim. Don't count on luck and don't risk more than you can afford to lose.
